If you renew your taxi driver permit (taksinkuljettajan ajolupa) between 1 November 2026 and 31 August 2034, you generally need to complete the 7-hour continuing training before renewal. You can apply to renew your permit up to six months before your current permit expires. Exception: if you completed the statutory 21-hour basic training after 1 September 2026, the refresher training is not required. The course does not teach you from scratch — it deepens what you already know: assisting passengers, demanding service situations, your own obligations and safe driving.
Traficom-approved training programmeThe requirement comes from the Act on Transport Services and Traficom's guidance. Three situations:

According to Traficom, refresher training is not required if you have completed the statutory 21-hour taxi driver training after 1 September 2026.

The course takes one day. Registration and payment are handled in the Webauto service once a course is open.

The content follows the training programme confirmed by Traficom. Every topic starts from real taxi work situations, and you learn to recognise what you in particular should do differently.
We keep three things apart: what the Traficom-approved programme permits, what the law requires, and what A+ Taxi currently runs.
The programme has been confirmed so that it can be delivered as classroom training, live online training or self-paced e-learning.
Identity is verified, participation is monitored and every lesson includes a task with immediate feedback. The full 7 hours must be attended.
For the live online course you need a computer or tablet, a good connection, a microphone and a camera that stays on for the whole course. Self-paced e-learning is not yet available — we will announce it when it opens.

No. The refresher training has no exam. An approved completion requires attending the full 7 hours and doing the short tasks during the course.
Not yet. The approved programme permits e-learning, but A+ Taxi currently runs the course as classroom training in Helsinki and as live online training. We will announce on this site and to the waiting list when self-paced e-learning opens.
A+ reports the approved completion to Traficom after the course, and it is entered in the transport register. You do not need to submit a certificate yourself — but you can get one free of charge on request.
The course must be completed before the renewal application, and renewal can be applied for at the earliest six months before the permit expires. You can take the course earlier — tell us your permit's expiry month on the waiting list and we will remind you in time.
