From 1 November 2026, you can take the taxi driver exam only after a 21-hour basic training. The course prepares you for professional taxi work — no previous experience is required. A clear route into the profession, also when Finnish is not your first language: we also teach the Finnish vocabulary you need in the exam.

You attend the whole course and do the learning tasks. A+ reports the approved completion to the transport register.
60 questions from five topic areas, 45 minutes, in Finnish or Swedish without a dictionary or interpreter. Passing requires 45 correct answers and a minimum in every topic area. The exam fee is paid to Ajovarma.
Category B licence held for at least one year, group 2 medical fitness, background check and a medical statement. The application is submitted at Ajovarma; Traficom issues the permit for five years.

The content follows the training programme confirmed by Traficom. Teaching proceeds through real taxi work situations, and the professional vocabulary is taught systematically — the same vocabulary you need in the exam.
We keep three things apart: what the Traficom-approved programme permits, what the law requires, and what A+ Taxi currently runs.
Topic areas 1–4 may also be delivered as e-learning, at most 7 hours. Topic area 5 (emergency first aid and acting in an accident) is always delivered in the classroom or live online with the trainer.
Identity is verified, participation is monitored and every lesson includes a task with immediate feedback. The full 21 hours must be attended.
For the live online course you need a computer or tablet, a good connection, a microphone and a camera that stays on for the whole course. A self-paced e-learning part is not yet available.

No. The taxi driver exam is organised by Ajovarma, and you book and pay for it separately. The course prepares you for it: the topic areas are the same, and we teach the Finnish exam vocabulary.
No. The exam is taken in Finnish or Swedish, and no dictionary or interpreter is allowed. That is why the exam vocabulary is a fixed part of our course.
Before 1 November 2026 you can take the exam without training, but according to Traficom an exam passed without training between 1 Sep and 31 Oct 2026 is valid only until 31 October 2026. The permit must therefore be applied for within the same window. See the driver permit page →
No. The course is designed for people entering the profession, and new topics are taught from the basics.
Yes, A+ runs the course as live online training and as classroom training in Helsinki. The format is confirmed with the course dates. For online attendance you need a computer or tablet, a microphone and a camera.
According to Traficom, the refresher training is not required at renewal if you have completed the statutory 21-hour training after 1 September 2026.
