Taxi driver training in Finland, 21 hours

Under the current law you become a taxi driver by passing the taxi driver exam — the 21-hour basic training only becomes mandatory on 1 November 2026. We have put the requirements, the exam, the application process and the costs on one page.

A+ helps you prepare for the exam — including the Finnish vocabulary you need in it. If you already hold a taxi driver licence, this training is not for you — renewing your licence requires the 7-hour refresher training.

Basic training · 21 hours

From 1 November 2026, as a new driver you complete 21 hours of basic training before the taxi driver exam. The training gives you the skills for professional taxi work — no previous experience is required.
