I am Thomas Alemayhu, a father of two, originally from Ethiopia — I moved to Finland as a child. Today I work as a driving instructor (A plus Driving School) and as the taxi entrepreneur trainer at A plus Taxi. I have worked as a driving school teacher for many years, and that experience gives me a strong foundation for understanding how to teach and support new entrepreneurs.

I especially want to help those who are just starting their taxi entrepreneur career in Finland. In my courses I focus on making sure students get support and practical advice. It is important to me that every student gets the knowledge and skills needed to start a successful taxi business in Finland.

The teaching language is Finnish. English support is available if needed — before, during and after the training.

The new law and regulations are in force. The entrepreneur exam is organised by Traficom's service provider.

Training becomes mandatory

Mandatory training begins. New driver: 21 hours before the exam. Renewal: 7 hours of refresher training.

Window closes

The refresher training window closes. Renewing a licence during this period requires the training.

FAQ

Short answers to the most common questions

Are A+ Taxi's courses Traficom-approved?+
Yes. All three training programmes — refresher training 7 h, basic training 21 h and entrepreneur training 21 h — have been confirmed by Traficom. Traficom confirms training programmes; it does not recommend individual training organisations.
Do I need the refresher training if my permit expires only later?+
If you renew your permit between 1 Nov 2026 and 31 Aug 2034, the renewal requires the 7-hour refresher training, completed before the renewal application, unless you completed the 21-hour basic training after 1 September 2026. Read about the refresher training →
Can I attend online?+
Yes. A+ runs courses as classroom training in Helsinki and as live online training. For online attendance you need a computer or tablet, a microphone and a camera. Self-paced e-learning is not yet available.
Is the training in English?+
Instruction is in Finnish, as the law requires. Support, vocabulary and clarifications are available in English when needed. The exams are taken in Finnish or Swedish without a dictionary — which is why we teach the exam vocabulary.
What do the courses cost and when are the next ones?+
Entrepreneur training €599 incl. VAT; plus the Traficom registration fee of €21. The prices and next dates of the refresher and basic training will be published shortly on the course pages — ask on WhatsApp or join the waiting list.
